About Us
EGRA is powered by ItCognify (Pty) Ltd, a black-owned private company specialising in AI technology and developing bespoke operational systems, with a special interest in Education.
We provide the Northern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal Departments of Education with an operating system called SmartAdmit. This system allows parents to register their learners for admission to a school online and the Department to objectively and automatically place those learners at the appropriate schools in accordance with a set of predetermined criteria.
Following the crisis around reading with comprehension and illiteracy in South Africa, we have developed two products to help alleviate this problem, EGRA and ReadItWrite.
To successfully build, maintain, and operate online systems such as these, a very specific skill set is required:

We are very proud of the fact that we have all of the above skills at our disposal. We have not only employed these skills in our Education products; our senior data scientists were, in fact, part of the team that developed Capitec’s cloud solution and put several machine learning systems into production for them. This followed an initial AI strategy that they developed after an intensive investigation into the bank’s data flows, which entailed interviews with everyone from junior bank tellers to the CEO.
Having worked in such a highly regulated environment, we are confident that our executive team possesses the necessary skills and experience to successfully design, develop, and implement an operational solution in any industry.
